Takko Fashion: Modern ACS management in action

🇩🇪 At Takko Fashion, fashion and lifestyle take centre stage. Yet even for this successful smart discounter, a modern IT infrastructure, of course, imperative. This is why Takko Fashion has equipped each of its over 1200 stores in Germany with a FRITZ!Box, which is monitored remotely with the help of professional ACS software.

Takko Fashion is one of the largest fashion discounters in Europe. The company has more than 1200 stores in Germany alone. When the stores were equipped with new hardware as part of the switch to All-IP, they looked for a high-quality, dependable router to connect to the internet, and chose the FRITZ!Box 7590 from FRITZ!. This box is now used in all German stores.
Remote monitoring and maintenance via ACS
The broadband connections in the individual stores are used to transfer point-of-sale data, music, and images, among other things. For this to work smoothly, the internet router must perform its job reliably. And that’s exactly what the FRITZ!Box 7590 does. ‘The FRITZ!Box runs absolutely stable and is perfectly compatible with the local Telekom connections we use’, says Wolfgang Drost, Partner and Product Manager at Axiros GmbH, that supports Takko Fashion with the necessary IT expertise.
An important unique selling point of the FRITZ!Box in professional use is its seamless functionality and compatibility with ACS software. ACS stands for Auto Configuration Server and allows the management and administration of many thousand to several million end devices through a single Auto Configuration Server. Professional ACS software can be used to check every morning and evening whether the FRITZ!Box in each individual store is running flawlessly. The same also applies to the remote maintenance of phone systems. Among the many strengths of the FRITZ!Box is its support for the internationally established TR-069 protocol (Technical Report 069) used for automatic provisioning and deployment (staging) of end devices. This interface offers fast and secure remote access to every single FRITZ!Box.

About Takko Fashion
With over 1900 stores in 17 countries, Takko Fashion is one of the biggest fashion discounters in Europe. The smart discounter has a wide selection of fashionable wear that offers excellent value for money, thus meeting the needs of the modern family. Customers can buy the latest trends from Takko Fashion around the clock in their online shop takko.com.

‘Our ACS software uses TR-069 to activate remote maintenance, thus allowing the automatic configuration and maintenance of all FRITZ!Boxes quickly and securely through a centralized system’, explains Wolfgang Drost. A special feature of the FRITZ!Box makes this extremely easy. ‘With just one click, we can open a port when needed to use specific services or access internal network devices such as printers or point-of-sale systems located behind the FRITZ!Box’s firewall via port forwarding. This makes our work so much easier’, the expert emphasizes. In the same way, new FRITZ!OS firmware can also be installed on the FRITZ!Box, which continuallly brings new improvements and increases security even further.

ACS solutions offer many advantages, and are now affordable for everyone. More and more European companies are turning to ACS software. The reasons for this are obvious. With the right solution, businesses save a significant amount of time, especially when many end devices are used: through remote maintenance, for example. In addition, transparency is achieved because everything is logged and thus easily traceable. Monitoring even means that errors can be detected before they become a problem. The solutions can also be used for alerts and push notifications.
Many companies would have liked to use ACS software much sooner. However, until now, the available solutions were designed primarily for use in corporations and large enterprises using thousands of end devices. Recently, companies such as Axiros have started offering ACS solutions that are affordable for smaller businesses as well. ‘Even from as few as 50 devices, professional ACS software is now a worthwhile investment’, says Wolfgang Drost. It costs around two euros per month per device.
‘The greater the number of devices managed via ACS, more cost-effective the solution becomes’, Drost notes.
Summary
The FRITZ!Box, with its reliability proven millions of times over, is the ideal choice, and helps save time and money in countless ways. The simple and free remote access to every store via TR-069 is a major advantage for the IT department and in most cases eliminates the need for costly on-site visits.
FRITZ!Box and ACS software are ideal partners
At Takko Fashion, the ACS software from Axiros and the FRITZ!Box from FRITZ! are the perfect combination for remotely managing and monitoring the 1200 stores in Germany. Although they do not use many of the additional features and functions that the FRITZ!Box has to offer, they still decided to go with the top model FRITZ!Box 7590. ‘Because when it comes to quality, we don’t make any compromises’, states André Nordhoff, Manager of IT Infrastructure & Operations at Takko Fashion.
