No pizza without a FRITZ! connection

‘Call a Pizza’ pizza chain relies on FRITZ!Box

🇩🇪 With its 100+ pizza stores, Call a Pizza is not only the second largest pizza chain in Germany, it is also one of the 60 largest employers in the food service industry. Every month, the company bakes, cooks, and delivers over 800,000 pizzas and dishes such as pasta, burgers, and chicken wings. To ensure that all orders are running smoothly again in 108 stores, Call a Pizza relies on the fast and reliable FRITZ!Box.

Call a Pizza owes its enormous popularity to speed and top quality. It receives over ten thousand orders every day. To guarantee that each order runs smoothly, the company relies on the FRITZ!Box from FRITZ!. The difference the right router makes became clear when Call a Pizza tried different hardware for a while.

Switch to All-IP: The happy return to the FRITZ!Box

Like many other business customers, Call a Pizza faced the challenge of switching all Telekom lines to All-IP connections. For this, every pizza store location was initially equipped with a router from another manufacturer. However, the problems soon began piling up. ‘Our franchise partners complained about bad Wi-Fi and complicated configuration,’ explains Thomas Wilde, managing director and owner of Call a Pizza. ‘At many stores, nothing was working anymore.

It quickly became clear that we couldn’t go on like this, because a pizza delivery service with an internet or phone outage needn’t bother even heating up the oven,’ Thomas Wilde explains the situation for the franchise partners all over Germany. Experience showed that outages often occurred in the evening and on weekends – rush hour for pizza delivery services. ‘Internet and phones are simply vital,’ says the managing director. ‘Before switching to All-IP, we were already using the FRITZ!Box, which ran perfectly. So we had to find a dependable solution again.’

High-speed DSL with failover to LTE: The ‘always online’ guarantee

Competition among pizza delivery services is enormous. If a delivery service cannot be reached online or by phone, the customer orders from the competition instead, and might even switch to them permanently. Bad experiences are also reported more often than positive ones. This makes it all the more important to be able to rely on the internet.

To minimize the risk of internet and phone line outages, the search for a suitable router ultimately led to the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE. If the DSL connection is interrupted, this model switches to the LTE mobile network at lightning speed, thus guaranteeing a reliable internet connection. Since 2019, Call a Pizza is back to relying exclusively on the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE.

You can depend on the FRITZ!Fon too

Nowadays, most orders are placed with Call a Pizza over the internet. However, the stores must also be well-equipped for orders placed by phone. Part of this is ensuring that customers can always access an available line. The FRITZ!Box also helps here with its integrated phone system and numerous functions. In the individual stores, the FRITZ!Fon also ensures top voice quality and reliable connections via DECT. ‘We are now state-of-the-art,’ concludes Thomas Wilde happily. ‘The call monitor forwards the phone number to the POS system, and the customer's name and address are immediately displayed. Order taking couldn’t be faster – and this leaves more time to discuss toppings and side dishes, if necessary. This also prevents delivery errors due to incorrect addresses.’

MyFRITZ! is used for remote access and maintenance

The daily closings and all other important data also run through the FRITZ!Box. MyFRITZ! offers secure and reliable remote access for all stores, allowing software updates and even configuration changes to be carried out centrally. This way, it is also possible to access network devices that are connected to the FRITZ!Box.
So all it takes to make customers happy are good food, friendly and competent staff, and a FRITZ!Box you can rely on.

Summary

To succeed as a delivery service, a reliable, high-performance router is essential. This is why Call a Pizza uses the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE in all of its stores in Germany. If there are problems with the DSL line, the FRITZ!Box automatically establishes an alternative connection via the LTE mobile network. The FRITZ!Box’s integrated phone system and FRITZ!Fon also ensure that callers also receive first-class service.
