Glasnet
🇳🇱 Dutch ISP Glasnet sets a new standard with FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS
The Hague-based provider Glasnet is taking a major leap forward in the world of fiber internet. By being the first to introduce the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS on the Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) network, Glasnet combines technical efficiency with an unrivaled user experience. The focus? Multi-gigabit speeds and the cutting-edge WiFi 7 standard.
The Challenge: Efficiency and Speed
Glasnet operates using its own active equipment on the ODF fiber network. Traditionally, a fiber connection required two separate devices: an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to convert the light signal, and a separate router for the home network. This setup led to higher hardware costs, a clutter of cables for the customer, and a more complex installation process.
With the growing demand for bandwidth exceeding 1 GBit/s, Glasnet was looking for a solution that could:
- Reduce costs by minimizing hardware requirements.
- Handle multi-gigabit speeds (2.5 and 5 GBit/s) effortlessly.
- Provide the ultimate wireless coverage in dense urban environments like for example The Hague.
The Solution: The All-in-One FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS
Glasnet chose FRITZ! new flagship: the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS. This model was specifically engineered for the latest XGS-PON fiber standards.
1. Integrated XGS-PON Modem
Thanks to the built-in XGS-PON technology, the fiber optic cable connects directly to the FRITZ!Box. This eliminates the need for a separate ONT, saving Glasnet significant costs in hardware and logistics, while customers benefit from a tidy setup and lower energy consumption.
2. Ready for Multi-Gigabit
Glasnet aims to follow the need of the market. With the 5690 XGS, they can immediately offer high-tier subscriptions of 2.5 GBit/s and 5 GBit/s. The powerful internal hardware ensures these speeds are fully utilized throughout the home.
By making the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS their standard, Glasnet delivers a complete digital infrastructure. The combination of ODF’s network, Glasnet’s active equipment, and FRITZ technology serves as the blueprint for the modern ISP.
